Client testimonies will affirm the powerful changes individuals and families experience because of the ministry. In addition, guest speaker, Star Parker, Founder and President of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), will share how abortion deeply hurts our society and what we can do about it.
Star Parker, Founder and President, Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE)
Star Parker, one of few national black conservative leaders, leads CURE, a public policy institute in Washington, D.C. that promotes market-based solutions to fight poverty and transition America's poor from government dependency. Her advisory board includes names such as Generals John Ashcroft and Ed Meese; Drs. Marvin Olasky, George Gilder, and Walter E. Williams, as well as Secretary Ken Blackwell and Economist Larry Kudlow.
Before her involvement in social activism, Star experienced seven years in the grip of welfare dependency. After a Christian conversion, she changed her life. Today, CURE leads a network of 800 pastors serving in at-risk communities across the country, and hosts BlackCommunityNews.com.
Star has a bachelor's degree in Marketing and International Business from Woodbury University, and in 1996, was a featured speaker at the Republican National Convention. In 2016, Star was honored by CPAC with the "Ronald Reagan Foot Soldier of the Year”; and in 2017, she joined the White House Opportunity Initiative task force to share ideas on how to best fix our nation's most distressed zip codes. Recently, she received the Groundswell Impact award, the Bott Radio Network Queen Esther award, and this year, was appointed to the U.S. Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission.
